My journey to "Lister Events" began on Friday, March 13th, 2020, my first day of chemo and Boston's first week in full pandemic lockdown.

I was working full-time as a music therapist in hospice when my life took a sharp turn with a triple-positive breast cancer diagnosis. I started chemotherapy the same week COVID lockdowns began, and balanced active treatment with full-time work for more than two years, unable to isolate despite being immunocompromised. I was an essential worker.

My lifelines became my loved ones and my community. We connected online and in person (6ft apart). We danced wherever our feet could touch the floor, learned cartwheels and handstands, and defied the heaviness of world around us with laughter and unapologetic joy. @morethanapinkribbon was born in part because of those experiences, and set the foundation for the next step, Lister Events.

"Lister Events" now comes on the heels of lessons I learned from people who saw beyond my visible and invisible barriers when I did not, and after seeing the power of community. Together we can elevate each other, find light within dark times, and use the power of community to move and grow.​​
